Letter to the UN Security Council

UN Youth Delegates from around the globe call for action at the UN Security Council

During the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Swiss Youth Representative Pleun Vaartjes, along with over 50 youth delegates from around the world, made history. For the first time, youth leaders, including the African Youth Ambassadors for Peace, delivered a statement directly to the UN Security Council, urging action to safeguard global peace.

The statement called for prioritizing the preservation of lives and peace above all other agendas, ensuring respect for UN Security Council resolutions through decisive measures, and holding accountable those who violate the principles of peace.

Swiss Ambassador Pascale Baeriswyl presented the statement to the council during her presidency, ensuring its distribution to all members. It has now been officially recognized as an official UNSC document under S/2024/799.
